“We don’t do charity in Germany. We pay taxes. Charity is a failure of government’s responsibilities”, said Henning Wahn.

Well, an out of context quote by a German stand-up comedian might not be enough to elaborate about the charitable work that is being done by the non-governmental organizations across the globe. To be specific, there were more than 3 million NGOs in India in 2015. Most of these non-governmental organizations work for the upliftment of the unprivileged class of society. Education, Health, Infrastructure, poverty alleviation, and humanitarian causes are some of the primary concerns of most of these NGOs.

In a country with more than 1/7th population of the world, it is a humongous challenge for the people to come out and do something for the unprivileged. To sum it up, educational inequality in developing countries is an unignorable concern. While India is not a third world country, it is not a first world country either that could cope with the world without implementing things properly. So, here we curated the list of five NGOs that are serving the purpose of rejuvenating education in India.

Teach for India (TFI)

Founded in 2007, this non-governmental organization was the brainchild of Shaheen Mistri, a social activist based in Mumbai. Since 2009, TFI recruits bright candidates every year. All these fellows commit to teach low-income schools for two years. With presence across various cities, there are thousands of fellows that are shaping the lives of unprivileged students across the nation.

Furthermore, it plays an important role in advocating child policies.
